Derivation | The JeKo-1 Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) cell line was established from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of a patient with a large cell variant of MCL showing leukemic conversion. |
Clinical Data | female The JeKo-1 Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) cell line was established from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of a patient with a large cell variant of MCL showing leukemic conversion. |
Antigen Expression | CD3-, CD5+, CD10+, CD19+ (verified at ATCC) |
Genes Expressed | CD3-, CD5+, CD10+, CD19+ (verified at ATCC) |
Comments | The cells overexpress cyclin D1, Bcl-2, c-Myc and Rb proteins. Bcl-1/J(H) gene rearrangement was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction. JeKo-1 cells are highly tumorigenic in SCID mice. PubMed: 9753063 JeKo-1 cells are negative for Epstein-Barr virus and express IgM, a B-cell phenotype. |
Complete Growth Medium | The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, Catalog No. 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 20%. |

Subculturing | Cultures can be maintained by the addition of fresh medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 2 x 104 to 4 X 104 viable cells/mL. Do not allow the cell concentration to reach 2.5 X 106 cells/mL. |
Cryopreservation | Freeze medium: 30% RPMI; 60% FBS; 10% DMSO Storage temperature: liquid nitrogen vapor phase |
