Jess is a member of the Simple Western™ Family.

Simple Western™ platforms are the only systems on the market that fully automate traditional Western blotting - eliminating many of the tedious, error-prone steps of traditional Western blotting which limit data quality.

Simple Western™ instruments are the only gel-free, blot-free, and hands-free capillary-based immunoassay platforms that integrate and automate the entire protein separation and detection process so you'll have more time to get down to real science.

Latest News/Applications

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) and exosomes have been shown to facilitate intercellular communication and are involved in numerous important cellular & disease processes, making them an exciting potential source for biomarker discovery and for liquid biopsy analysis. While EV protein and exosome characterisation is important, analysing protein expression in intact EVs can be a challenge due to the limited amount of material and low expression levels of many EVs proteins.

For EV researchers in academic or industry labs who want to analyse protein expression in EVs via western blotting, this tested solution represents an easy, fast, and high sensitivity workflow that combines high purity EV isolation with reproducible, sensitive western blotting data.

  • • Low sample volume - only 3µL starting volume required, enabling you to utilise minimal EV sample volume for protein expression characterisation
  • • Industry-leading sensitivity - chemiluminescence or fluorescence detection with Stellar™ NIR/IR Modules
  • • Multiplexed protein analysis and RePlex™ sequential immunoassays or total protein detection
  • • Fully quantitative data with built-in total protein normalisation in the same capillary
  • • Hands-free automation of 24 samples in one 3-hour run

Advancements in Exosome Research Tools and Diagnostics

Speakers

• Johan Skog, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer, Vice President, Exosome Diagnostics, a Bio-Techne brand
• Chris Heger, Ph.D., Senior Manager, Applications Science - Bio-Techne

Exosomes and other extracellular vesicles (EVs) are a versatile source of biomarkers for molecular diagnostics. EVs enable and enhance the field of liquid biopsy, from mutation detection to RNA profiling and protein analysis. Researchers have made substantial progress in liquid biopsy and EV-based diagnostics, resulting in the first commercially available exosome-based test to aid doctors and patients in the clinical decision-making process. In this webinar brought to you by Bio-Techne, Chris Heger will cover an introduction to Simple Western™ technology, and Johan Skog will cover an introduction to exosomes, some of the latest diagnostic applications in the exosome field, and how automated Western blotting systems can help streamline your exosome research.

Accelerate your cancer & immuno-oncology research. Our next-generation Western blotting solutions allow you to uncover new views into the role of proteins in cancer and accelerate your ability to develop and analyse protein-based therapeutics.

Study the tumour microenvironment

Evidence suggests that the heterogeneous makeup of the tumour microenvironment (TME) is a major contributor to the discrepancies in response observed.

Profiling the composition and function of immune cells that exist within the TME is poised to guide an improved response to immunotherapy and may uncover novel therapeutic targets and strategies. But the complexity and heterogeneity of immune cell signatures, combined with a finite sample, make the TME a particularly difficult area to investigate.

This Application Note discusses the workflow to achieve population-level and single-cell-level perspective on each sample analysed.

Determining immuno-oncology targets

Simple Western and Single-Cell Western offer highly specific, sensitive, and reproducible quantification of important immuno-oncology targets in human cells. These targets are detected simultaneously with total protein in your sample for accurate total protein normalisation.

In this Application Note, we show how Simple Western and Single-Cell Western enables researchers to interrogate angiogenesis of the tumour microenvironment, immune checkpoint inhibition, and chimeric antigen T-cell (CAR T-cell) therapy.

Immune checkpoint proteins: PD1, PD-L1, CTLA-4, and TIGIT

Hypoxic markers: HIF-1α, VEGFR-2, TGF-β, and ANG2

CAR T-Cell Target: CD19

Why use Simple Western for LVV analysis?

  • - Multi-attribute method. The ability to measure 4 or more critical quality attributes (CQAs) in one automated bench-top instrument like Jess™ reduces the upfront capital, time, labour, and overall cost required to develop new LVV-based C&GT.
  • - At-line protein analysis. As a compact benchtop instrument with automated runtimes of 25 samples in 3 hours or 96 samples overnight, Simple Western enables at-line protein analysis that scales with process development.
  • - Minimal sample expenditure. Using only 3μL of starting material, Jess can mutliplex in chemiluminescence and Stellar™ high-sensitivity NIR/IR fluorescence, or perform RePlex™ with sequential immunoassays and Total Protein Detection.
