NuAire Biological Safety Cabinets provide maximum knee/thigh clearance which improves the user’s ability to assume a proper posture. The maximum knee/thigh clearance is accomplished by a design improvement that reduced the plenum height beneath the work surface. The adjustable base stand provides the ability for laboratory personnel to optimize ergonomic conditions improving leg and forearm support.
A wide work access opening provides forearm comfort while maintaining optimal airflow containment for personnel and product protection through a recessed front grill. A sloped armrest extension allows the forearm and elbow to be rested while holding up such laboratory apparatus as beakers, plates, etc. inside the work area zone area.
- Foam Armrest Pads (NU-976) offer increased comfort to forearms
- Elbow Rests (NU-978-001 and NU-978-002) offer proper support of elbows and forearms while keeping arms and elbows off the front air grill.
The frameless polished edge window in NuAire Biosafety Cabinets allow for greater visibility and better sight lines to the effective work zone area reducing awkward postures resulting in less eye fatigue as well as neck and shoulder strain.
Cool white fluorescent lighting reduces glare in the work zone area creating less eye fatigue during long work periods. The fluorescent lights are externally mounted and use and electronic ballast to minimize heat output within the work zone and the laboratory.
NuAire's BioFit® chair has a star-based platform with adjustable height, back and lumbar support. The non-skid adjustable footrest (SV-973-700) provides optimal foot and leg support.
NuAire manufactures our Biological Safety Cabinets with an Ultra High Efficient Motor that not only saves energy but significantly runs quieter with fewer vibrations relieving prolonged body stress when working at your Biosafety Cabinet.
NuAire products are built to order to optimize your working environment for your unique application. Our dedication to quality will ensure your product is manufactured correctly and work correctly once installed.

The Class I Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) provides personnel and environmental protection, but NO product protection. It is similar in air movement to a chemical fume hood, but usually has a limited fixed work access opening and the exhaust air must be HEPA filtered, to protect the environment. Unfiltered room air is drawn through an access opening, which provides personnel protection, then across the work surface, through an exhaust plenum and out the top. To be classified as a Class I BSC, however, the inward flow of air MUST maintained at a The Class I BSC is designed for general microbiological research with low- and moderate-risk agents.
With the product protection provided by the Class II Biological Safety Cabinets, however, general usage of the Class I BSC has significantly declined. In many cases, however, Class I BSCs are used specifically to enclose equipment (e.g., centrifuges, harvesting equipment, balances or small fermenters), or procedures with a potential to generate aerosols (e.g. Animal cage bedding disposal, aerating cultures or homogenizing tissues).
Selecting a Class II Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) must take into consideration a considerable number of factors which include, among others, the materials, quantity, and procedures being performed within the cabinet, the facility requirements based on risk assessments, the location of the cabinet within the laboratory itself, the installation requirements of the cabinet, and the mechanical systems exhaust/supply to both the laboratory and the cabinet.
All of NuAire's Class II BSCs, regardless of type (i.e. Types: A2, B1, or B2) provide the same level of product AND personnel protection from a biological point of view. The NSF International Listing Program for compliance, standard NSF/ANSI 49*, has subjected each type to the exactly the same minimum testing procedures and exactly the same pass/fail criteria for all Class II BSCs. NuAire additionally performs a wide range of dynamic biological challenge tests to assure maximum containment performance.
It is the amount of air that is recirculated within the cabinet.
1.Type A2 cabinets recirculate 70%
2.Type B1 recirculate less than 50%
3.Type B2 cabinets recirculate 0% (total exhaust)
The Class III biological safety cabinet was designed for work with biosafety level 4 (BSL-4) microbiological agents, and provides maximum protection to the environment and the worker. It is a gas-tight enclosure with a non-opening, completely sealed, viewing window. Access to the interior of the cabinet is through a double-door pass-through "interchange" box (such as an autoclave) that can be decontaminated between uses and/or a dunk tank that is accessible through the cabinet floor into the floor of a Class I or Class II cabinet. Reversing that process allows for safe removal of materials from the Class III biosafety cabinet.
Both supply and exhaust air are HEPA filtered. Exhaust air must pass through two HEPA filters, or a HEPA filter and an air incinerator, before discharge to the outdoors. Air Flow is
Class III cabinets are usually only installed in maximum containment laboratories that have controlled access and require special ventilation or other support systems.
