Dr. Roddy O’Connor is an Instructor at the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. O’Connor received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Limerick, Ireland followed by a Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology at Emory University, Atlanta, GA.
At Emory, Dr. O’Connor studied the molecular mechanisms driving the differentiation of stem cells. He completed a post doctoral fellowship in cancer biology, and additional post-doctoral training with Drs. Michael Milone and Carl June, exploring how micro environmental conditions impact CAR-T cell differentiation. Recently, Dr. O’Connor has pioneered a series of studies examining how metabolic reprogramming, conferred by distinct signaling receptors, influences CAR‐T cell differentiation and function.
